During my time at Life Without Barriers, I not only focused on upgrading and developing inclusive webpages but also contributed to strategic design interventions aimed at attracting new foster carer recruits. This project aimed to leverage UX design to understand potential recruits and differentiate the brand. Through discussions with stakeholders, marketing, developers, and designers, we embarked on redesigning the online experience to better support and comprehend the journey of individuals considering becoming foster carers. This involved analyzing content, competitors, existing information architecture, and service processes to shape the user experience. A workshop brought together representatives from various teams to define strategies for supporting the carer journey, followed by conceptualising micro experiments to create a digital experience that incrementally learned about potential clients over time.
The Carer Walkthrough concept integrates content gaps, existing UI patterns, and IA hierarchy within the Life Without Barriers website. It aims to create a web experience that guides and learns about visitors interested in becoming Foster Carers. By adjusting existing pages, the work aimed to positioned the organisation in a space to better engage in a dialogue with visitors, intuitively addressing their needs early on rather than waiting for lengthy acquisition processes. The concept hypothesised that over time, we could rework the website to better prompt and respond to common questions, concerns, and impulses at each stage of the carer journey through ongoing enhancements and iterations. As a result, support potential carers further through the journey and into the recruitment process to become a Foster Carer at Life Without Barriers.
